Dear Friends of St. Francis Football,

I am writing to inform you of a change in our plans for this year’s October 1st event on the NY Stock Exchange floor. As the committee met last night to finalize our plans for the event, we were informed by our contact that the new ownership of the Exchange will not honor our past financial agreement. This obviously was an unforeseen message and presents a significant increase to our costs, requiring us to move the location and date of our event.

The decision was not an easy one. The committee voted to change venue and date based on one sole principal. The money from sponsors, donors, raffles and attendees targeted to provide tuition assistance would NOT go to finance the event. We feared we would net little to no money based upon this unforeseen factor and that outcome would be irresponsible of us (the committee) and unfair to the people who generously gave their money to support this great cause.

So here is the deal, we already had a BBQ planned for Saturday October 4th after the Holy Cross Game (Bayside HS 1PM). The BBQ is an alumni sponsored event called “The 12th Man BBQ” sponsored by Joe and Kathy Busuttil, class of 1982 for the Varsity Team and their families held in the parking lot behind Saint Francis Prep, immediately after the game.

If you purchased a ticket to the Wall Street Event, we would love for you to join us at our BBQ and your event ticket will be transferred to a raffle ticket. Raffle tickets and donations are still available on Eventbrite and will be sold up to the Saturday BBQ. All raffle tickets will be drawn that day. If this is not your wish and would like a full refund of your ticket, please contact me at and I will arrange a full reimbursement.

I hope this does not cause you any inconvenience, the decision was based solely on what’s good for the kids and to be good stewards of your donations.
