EASTER GREETINGS FROM THE FRANCISCAN BROTHERS AND THE ENTIRE ST. FRANCIS PREP COMMUNITY
He gives us peace; He himself is peace. For this reason the Church repeats insistently: “Christ is risen -- ‘Christós anésti.’” --Excerpted from Pope Benedict XVI’s Easter message.

LIVING OUR FRANCISCAN MISSIONSOUP SUPPER: SIMPLE FOOD, POWERFUL STORIES On March 26th, more than 100 members of the Prep community gathered for a simple meal--a bowl of soup! Participants included current students, their family members, SFP faculty and staff. The purpose of the evening was to act in solidarity with the people who live in poverty and give students (who participated in the Franciscan Immersion Experience program) an opportunity to share reflections from their experiences in New Orleans, LA and Camden, NJ. Elizabeth Sanson, '09 and Ryan Bacci, '10 spoke passionately about their service experiences. "I think that their participation in this program really had an impact on their lives, connecting them more with our Franciscan Mission", said Christian Sullivan, Director of Campus Ministry. The student volunteers were responsible for each aspect of the night including the setting up, serving of the food, and cleaning up, in order to foster team work and build community before their upcoming trips. 56 students and 8 faculty members are participating this year.
The donations collected that evening help defray the costs for students to participate in the Franciscan Immersion Experience (FIE) program. If you wish to help support this program and Campus Ministry, you can donate online using the SFP Alumni Website. Simply click on the "Donate to the Prep" menu item on the left hand side.

Remembering Edward V. Kelly '51
It is with great sadness that we report that our friend, benefactor and SFP Washington D.C. Alumni Chapter annual event sponsor, Ed Kelly '51, died on November 16th at his home in Bethesda of cancer and complications from pulmonary fibrosis.
Ed earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1956. After graduation, he was on active duty in the Navy for eight years and he retired as a captain in the Navy Reserve after 32 years of service. Ed was a 42-year member of Catholic Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda and a member of the Order of Malta and the John Carroll Society and past director of the Catholic Youth Organization in the District. For many years, he was the lector at Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle. He also was a past chapter president of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara Keegan Kelly, and two daughters, Barbara Ann Kelly Myers and Megan Kelly Ambrosi, all of Bethesda; two sisters; two brothers; and eight grandchildren. Please remember Ed and the Kelly family in your prayers.
