St. Francis Prep is sad to report the passing of William "Bill" Rihm, class of 1980. The following is an excerpt that appeared in a Newsday story about Bill.
"He was a good father, devoted husband, had a great sense of humor and loved fishing," said his sister-in-law, Sylvia Allen, 48, of Westhampton Beach, Rihm was last seen Friday about 10:30 p.m. when he left to go fishing. The next day, when his wife realized he hadn't come home, she called the police. Rihm started fishing as a child growing up in Queens, Allen said. He became devoted to the hobby, she said, fishing five days a week if the weather permitted. Rihm, an adaptive physical education teacher for New York City schools, was looking forward to summer when he could fish every day, she said. West Meadow was his favorite, Allen said. "He was very cautious," she added. "He never took risks when he was fishing. We don't know at this point what occurred." Rihm has a wife, Katherine; a 13-year-old daughter; and a 10-year-old son.
