We’d like to take a moment and congratulate an amazing person who has been a mentor, caring friend, dedicated physician and loyal alumnus of St. Francis Prep! Dr. Gerard Hevern , SFP Class of 1968 received the Physician of the Year Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians.  Congratulations Gerry, you truly are an incredible person and a role model to everyone in your life!

Gerry was born and raised in Stuyvesant Town on Manhattan's Lower East Side.  He was a high-school football standout at St. Francis Prep when we were located in Brooklyn.   After Prep, Gerry was recruited to play football for Harvard University. He intended to go to medical school but considered sociology and city planning his plan B options.  Read the rest of the story by clicking here.
