On Monday, June 22, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio of the Diocese of Brooklyn hosted a welcoming reception for New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan and invited not only representatives from both the Diocese of Brooklyn and Archdiocese of New York, but also New York City elected officials from Congress, the New York State Legislature, the New York City Council, Borough Halls and City Hall. The event was held at Fordham University at Lincoln Center, 113 West 60th Street, in the 12th floor lounge of the Leon Lowenstein building.

The program included a meet-and-greet session with Archbishop Dolan, several speakers who joined in welcoming the new Archbishop, and a continuous silent slide show with numerous pictures that documented the work of both the Archdiocese of New York and the Diocese of Brooklyn in the areas of Charities, Education, Housing and Social Service.

St. Francis Prep's award winning Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Robert Johnston, was invited to perform during the event and received wonderful reviews from Archbishop Dolan and many others in attendance.

Archbishop Dolan recently succeeded Cardinal Edward Egan as the spiritual leader of The Archdiocese of New York which includes Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, and seven upstate counties. Bishop DiMarzio oversees the Diocese of Brooklyn which also includes the NYC Borough of Queens. St. Francis Prep, which is currently celebrating its 150th Anniversary Year, is located within Bishop DiMarzio's jurisdiction in the Diocese of Brooklyn.

Congratulations to Mr. Johnston and the St. Francis Prep Chamber Orchestra for another outstanding public performance and for representing the Prep in such a positive way once again!
